Shuttle launches it’s new Barebones Mini PC

Shuttle has today launched a new addition to their Mini PC line-up and this time it comes in the form of the new Shuttle XPC SZ68R5. This new Barebones Mini PC can be fitted with an Intel Core i7 processor for those who need it.

It can also support an SSD drive using it’s Smart Response Technology for improved performance and speed. It can also hold up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM which can be spread through four sockets at 8GB each.

Other specifications include 4 USB 3.0 ports, 6 USB 2.0 ports, eSATA/USB combo, a 7.1 channel analog audio and more.

Pricewise, you can get it bare without the processor, RAM, graphics cards, hard drives at $397. Prices of course may go up to thousands of dollars when you equip the bad boy.

The Lenovo ThinkPad getting Android 4.0 update

Lenovo has today announced that they will be rolling out an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the ThinkPad tablet device. For those who have long been waiting can expect it to come 2nd quarter of this year. The update will come as an over-the-air update which means there’s no need for computers and wires.

As a refresher, the Lenovo ThinkPad features a 10.1 multitouch touchscreen display with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 800. It is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor and it originally came with Android 3.1 Honeycomb when it first came out.

It’s the last day of Google’s Android 10-day app sale and the last ten apps that will be available for 10-cents each will be a mixture of games, arts and a camera app.

This entry-level ZTE phone named the San Francisco II which is also the successor to the first San Francisco phone is once again getting a page from Orange UK’s site. Now, you can catch the phone for 99 GBP plus a 10 GBP compulsary top-up payment for PAYG.
For those who don’t know, the Orange San Francisco II features a 3.5 inch WVGA touchscreen and is powered by an 800 MHz processor. It’s camera will come in the form of a 5-megapixel one.
Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be running the show.

APPY Geek for the iOS features your favorite tech news in one place

If you’re anything like me, then you probably need your hourly dose of tech news from the best and here is a tool that could give you just that.

I have just recently downloaded and installed the app on my phone and I gotta say, it’s looking pretty good on my scoreboard. The app displays articles from different tech blogs as they are posted.

There’s a centralized news feed that could update you while a category view makes it easier to track certain topics that interest at the moment.

StumbleUpon rolls out an update for its Android and iOS apps

StumbleUpon had just released an update to their iOS and Android apps today. Now, version 2.0 brings a revamped StumbledUpon app to its users. The update brings a new “Explore Box”, a feature that is not new to the web-based users.
The update also brings a new swipe to stumble option for easy stumbling. Moreover, the update will bring a new interface that would make images and other results mor vibrant.

Samsung to release a cross-platform mobile messenger app

Cross-platform mobile messaging has gotten a little bit cooler today as Samsung has unveiled its plans of launching its very own cross-platform mobile messenger app. The service being called the Samsung’s ChatOn app will allow users to chat with friends who own phones with other platforms.
Even cooler is that the company will include feature phones in this project.
The service will offer 1 on 1 private messaging, a conference chatting option, free sms and mms sending through the app and more.
Unfortunately, there’s still no actual release date for the app but we will update you as soon as more information about this has been announced.

Facebook releases version 3.5 of their iOS app. Details

Facebook has just released their newest iOS app version named version 3.5. The update brings a number of bug fixes and appearance enhancements to its users. Updates include chat bugs fixes, a fix wherein the notification bar disappears, and fixes with its newsfeed filtering options. Enhancements on the other hand include a few UI changes to the profile and groups page.
So that’s that. I’m still hoping for an iPad version of the Facebook app, I wonder when would that be?

China closes fake Apple Stores

Just last week, there have been reports about a number of fake Apple Stores in Kunming, China. Now, the government has taken action against this and has reportedly closed down two of them while hunting down three more in the area.

As you can see from the photo above, the fake Apple Store is too similar that you can’t tell whether its a real store or not. China is known for copying gadgets but I didn’t think that they would go as far as copying an entire store’s concept and design just to make an extra buck.

The Acer AC700 Chromebook now available for $350

Acer has just confirmed the US release for their AC700 Chromebook and according to the announcement, it will come for $350 with a 3G version to be released soon after. The device will probably make it to a number of online and electronic retail stores in the country upon release.

As a reminder, the Acer AC700 Chromebook will run Google Chrome OS and features cloud storage options for customers. Its processor will boast of an Aom N570 processor with 2GB of DDR3 memory.

Also, it sports a 1.3 megapixel cam, and a combination of 2 USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port and memory card reader.
